Toys - A Poem (Innocence)

Her childish eyes just want to play
Implore me to accept her game
She patiently waits while I read
Stupid article, means nothing

Takes my hand at last she has me
Wants to draw or paint or model
Jigsaws crumble, towers tumble
Her world's my world, for an instant

Grown up worries fade to embers
This sandcastle, my universe
Fingers grubby, touching daddy's
This moment, a million teardrops

Got a toy, a present for her
S'posed to be more interesting
Than the fact that I am leaving
Eyes shining, the old trick's worked again
