Papillon

Oh Papillon, where are you now
You hide your soul you drop your brow
And if I ever try to see
Into you I hear ‘Let me be!’

My Papillon, why do you fly
Away when I just want to try
To smooth your wings and feel the beat
Of your sweet heart and your small feet

So Papillon, don’t tell me go
There’s so much I have got to know
Like how it feels to kiss the sun
And paint the trees and always run

Now Papillon, you make me bleed
With unsaid love, with unfed need
You said to never wait for you
I see you now, I see it’s true

But Papillon, you can’t go on
Your wings are tired, your spark has gone
Your lover waited but in vain
He’s gone, and you won’t love again
