Shuttered
Up
From St-Germain des Prés, a
picture of, well, some bright red flowery window boxes and
bright white slatted shutters, which is rather nice to stumble
across on a sunny Sunday morning in central Paris.
In fact, this isn't so unusual, but it is a bit different from
the classic Parisian appartment building with those typical
black iron railings on the balconies, but then St-Germain des
Prés is a special area. It's a bit of a paradox really, because
on the one had it's generally swarming with tourists and cafés
overflowing but on the other hand there are some parts which are
genuinely timeless with little windey streets and hidden squares
and evocative shop signs.
This shot is also a gentle reminder to just look up
from time to time (or all the time if you like). By raising your
eyes above street level you not only see some of the most
amazing things which you'd miss if you just take the horizontal
gaze approach, but by tilting your lens up (or down - same
principle) you also create some really interesting angles as
seen here. |
